Inspired by post-war Italian culture, Brandon Phillips, named Chicago Tribune’s 2016 ‘Bartender of the Year’, along with Kevin Hickey, named Chicago Tribune’s 2016 ‘Chef of the Year’, designed Otto Mezzo, an art deco, late-night cocktail bar located in River North, in partnership with Rockit Ranch Productions, the local hospitality company behind award-winning concepts such as The Duck Inn, Sunda and Bottlefork. Otto Mezzo’s creative cocktail program pays homage to popular liqueurs and spirits of the Italian post-war era like amaro and grappa, and features a list of more than 90 bitters including amari, aperitifs, and fernets. Though drinks are at the heart of this venue, Hickey created an aperitivo menu that includes nightly pasta dishes and a selection of flavorful small bites.
